My Ideal Day

Lots of days when I'm headed to bed I think to myself, "What did I do today?" - as in the day is over and I'm feeling like I didn't accomplish much.  After reading this post over at My Pretty Pennies, I decided that I should think about what my ideal day would be, keeping in mind this is not a vacation day but a day that I could actually obtain.

Here is my ideal day....

5:45 am - Wake up and work out (DVD or walk outside)

6:20 am - Take a shower

6:45 am - Eat breakfast (toast, peanut butter and jam or waffles and a piece of fruit), make sure my lunch is made and ready to go

7:05 am - Dry/style hair, make-up and get dressed

7:43 am - Head outside to catch the bus

8:08 am - Arrive at work, grab a cup of coffee and start the day

10:30 am - Coffee time! Head to the lunch room and chat with some coworkers

11:00 am - Back to work

12:30 pm - Meet co-workers in the lunch room for lunch or find a spot to sit outside and enjoy the weather

1:30 pm - Back to work

4:03 pm - Start wrapping things for the day and clean up any tsunami's I've created

4:13 pm - Head to the bus spot to head home

4:50 pm - Walk in the door to my apartment, wash my hands and change out of work clothes

5:15 pm - Go for a walk at the park

6:00 pm - Make supper (I know what I'm having thanks to my menu plan) and eat

6:45 pm - Wash dishes, clean kitchen, get lunch organized for the following day

7:00 to 9:30 pm - Enjoy the evening watching tv, surfing the internet, reading, doing some crafting, visiting with friends/family, going to a scheduled class

9:30 pm - Wash my face, brush my teeth, think about what I will wear tomorrow and get into my pj's

10:00 pm - Get into bed and watch The Big Bang Theory

10:30 pm - Lights out

When I look at this, I don't know why I'm not living my ideal day everyday.  I have every ability to make this happen and enjoy a more fulfilled, balanced life.

What does your ideal day look like?

Rain Check!

Pinned Image

I really hate when I go grocery shopping and most of the items that are on my list are sold out because they are sale items.  I appreciate that others like a great deal too but the store should be prepared.

Yesterday after work I headed to Walmart to pick up some items that were on sale during their Big Dollar Days sale.  At first everything was going well....Apples, Check. Bananas, Check.  POM juice, Check.  Then I headed to the juice aisle to pick up three 1 litre juices....none to be seen.  Maybe they put the juice in the aisle?  Nope.  Next on the list is cookies on sale for $2.00.  There is one brand that I want but the other......gone.  As I'm walking up and down the aisles looking for the items that I want, I can't believe that they are sold out.  Wouldn't they have enough to make sure the shelves are always stocked?   I decided to admit defeat and head to the cashier.  As I'm cashing out, I asked the girl if they offer rain checks.  She didn't know, I would have to ask at customer service.

I headed over to the customer service desk and asked if they offered rain checks .  The associate told me as long as the item wasn't advertised "no rain checks", there was no problem.  I walked out with 2 rain checks - one for two $2.00 cookies and one for six $1.00 juice.

I am so happy that I asked for the rain checks.  Usually I get upset that the items are sold out and leave the store.  I think that I will always ask for rain checks from now one - in the end all the store can say is "No" but if they do say "Yes" I'll be able to take advantage for the great sales.

Do you ask for rain checks?

Book Review: Chasing Harry Winston

I hope that you had a wonderful long weekend.  I had a great time up at the lake....even though it rained Saturday and most of Monday.  I was able to finish one book and start another.  The book I finally finished was Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger.   The following is a synopsis of the book from Goodreads:

The bestselling author of "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Everyone Worth Knowing" returns with the story of three best friends who vow to change their entire lives...and change them fast.

Emmy is newly single, and not by choice. She was this close to the ring and the baby she's wanted her whole life when her boyfriend left her for his twenty-three-year-old personal trainer -- whose fees are paid by Emmy. With her plans for the perfect white wedding in the trash, Emmy is now ordering takeout for one. Her friends insist an around-the-world sex-fueled adventure will solve all her problems -- could they be right?

Leigh, a young star in the publishing business, is within striking distance of landing her dream job as senior editor and marrying her dream guy. And to top it all off, she has just purchased her dream apartment. Only when Leigh begins to edit the enfant terrible of the literary world, the brilliant and brooding Jesse Chapman, does she start to notice some cracks in her perfect life...

Adriana is the drop-dead-gorgeous daughter of a famous supermodel. She possesses the kind of feminine wiles made only in Brazil, and she never hesitates to use them. But she's about to turn thirty and -- as her mother keeps reminding her -- she won't have her pick of the men forever. Everyone knows beauty is ephemeral and there's always someone younger and prettier right around the corner. Suddenly she's wondering...does Mother know best?

These three very different girls have been best friends for a decade in the greatest city on earth. As they near thirty, they're looking toward their future...but despite all they've earned -- first-class travel, career promotions, invites to all the right parties, and luxuries small and large -- they're not quite sure they like what they see...

One Saturday night at the Waverly Inn, Adriana and Emmy make a pact: within a single year, each will drastically change her life. Leigh watches from the sidelines, not making any promises, but she'll soon discover she has the most to lose. Their friendship is forever, but everything else is on the table. Three best friends. Two resolutions. One year to pull it off.

I started this book many months ago and only read a little here and there but once I had alot of time to read (due to all the rain) I totally got into it.  It's a light-hearted, fun, girly book that doesn't require any thinking.  It's a perfect beach book....or in my case, the perfect book for a rainy weekend.
